Verify Ownership of Your Website & Domain for Google Print

If you’ve landed on this page, chances are you’re trying to set up a website property in your Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools).  The process of connecting your website with your Google Account allows you access to raw search data and trends.  Google requires that you verify ownership of your website / domain before granting this access.  The valuable information that you will get back can help to improve your business’s ranking within the searches and, thus, help your business to grow.

However, to achieve this required verification, Google will need you to add a DNS verification (TXT) record to your domain. This record will serve as proof that you are the legitimate owner of the domain and website, with legal rights to access all of your website's search data and other business-related information.  Adding the verification will tie your website to your Google accounts so that you have access to your website's raw search data within your Google Search/Analytics account.

To verify your website / domain ownership, get your Iowa-Host control panel login information and log in.  Then, follow these simple steps to Verify Your Domain Ownership via DNS Records for Google.

After verifying the ownership of your website / domain, you should be able to go back to your Google account and click 'Verify'.  It may take awhile to update so you may have to give it a couple of hours or a day to clear the cache.

NOTE:  Propagation can normally take up to 72 hours but, if you have your domain through Iowa-Host, we normally see the DNS changes happen instantaneously (or very soon after - within just a few minutes).  We use ENOM as our domain registrar because we have found them to be more dependable and much quicker to update than other registrars we have used in the past.
